Strata d’Onyx

Name: Strata d’Onyx
Brand: Nyxora
SKU: NT-011

Strata d’Onyx turns layered stone into a desk lamp, with a single-piece river onyx block shade resting horizontally on a matte burgundy steel body.

Story

Strata is the geological term for layers. We kept the bands of river onyx horizontal, because the stone formed by building up, layer upon layer, over centuries. The burgundy steel body carries this heavy stone like a cantilever beam, giving the lamp an architectural serenity. It was designed for desks, libraries, and offices. Unlit, it is a cross-section of stone; lit, it becomes a warm sediment light that glows band by band.

Stone: River Onyx

River onyx takes its name from its reddish-brown and cream bands, which roll through the stone in waves, like river sediment. Each layer is the trace of mineral-rich waters patiently weaving the stone over centuries. Thanks to its translucent calcite structure, the bands turn to shades of amber and copper when the stone meets light.

Light

Light filters through the entire surface of the block and from beneath it, casting a broad, warm, shadowless task light onto the desk. When lit, the reddish-brown bands of river onyx turn to amber.

Care

A soft, dry microfiber cloth is all it needs. Do not use liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasives. To protect the natural texture of the stone, keep the lamp out of direct sunlight. We recommend a warm white (2700 K) LED bulb; cool white light distorts the stone’s color gradations.

INFO CARE & COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

CAREHow do I clean natural onyx?

Simply wipe it with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasives. If a mark appears, wipe it with a slightly damp cloth, then buff with a dry one.

To protect the natural texture of the onyx, keep the lamp out of direct sunlight.

CAREWhich bulb do you recommend?

We recommend a warm white 2700 K LED bulb. Socket type and maximum wattage vary by model; you will find this information in the Specifications section of the product page and in the technical drawing. Cool white light distorts the natural color gradations of the stone.
