With this sconce, we wanted to capture the first light of day inside a stone. We built the dome from onyx segments 8 mm thick and joined them with slim brass profiles. The brass body, rising joint by joint, carries the dome like the stem of a flower. At the bedside, in hallways, and in reading corners, Alba becomes a quiet companion.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eStone: Natural Onyx\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eOnyx is a translucent natural stone formed as calcium carbonate carried by spring waters settles, layer upon layer, over thousands of years. This structure allows light to pass through the stone. The veining and color gradation of each block belong to that piece alone. When the lamp is lit, this pattern is illuminated from within and comes into view. The dome of Alba is made from an onyx with reddish-brown, honey, and cream bands.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eLight\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eLight comes from a single LED source in a G9 socket and filters through the onyx segments. When lit, the reddish-brown and honey-toned bands of the dome come to the fore. Between them, the brass profiles appear as fine golden lines.
